Afrida Jinnurain Urbee
Mrs. Afrida Jinnurain Urbee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU). She previously served as a Lecturer in the same department of NSTU and an Adjunct Lecturer at Barishal Government Women’s College and as a Music Instructor at the IER of University of Dhaka. A dedicated educator and researcher, her interests include international trade, environmental, and development economics. She has also contributed to student development as Assistant Director of NSTU’s Counselling Centre and Assistant Moderator of the Debating Society. A former leader in Dhaka University debating circles, she is also an enlisted singer of Bangladesh Betar for over two decades.

BIOGRAPHY
Mrs. Afrida Jinnurain Urbee is a dedicated economist and educator with a strong academic background and a passion for teaching, research, and student development. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics in Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) since 2024, Mrs. Urbee brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the classroom. She started working in this department as a Lecturer in 2022. Before joining NSTU, Mrs. Urbee worked as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Economics of Barishal Government Women's College, where she honed her teaching skills and fostered a supportive learning environment. Additionally, she gained valuable experience as a Music Instructor at Chayaneer Pre-School of the Institute of Education and Research (IER) at the University of Dhaka, showcasing their versatility in working with students of different age groups. Committed to holistic student development, Mrs. Urbee has also served as the Assistant Director of the Students' Counselling and Guidance Centre and Assistant Moderator of the NSTU Debating Society, where she provided guidance and support to students, fostering their personal growth and well-being. Throughout her academic journey at the University of Dhaka, Mrs. Urbee demonstrated exceptional leadership skills. She was Joint Secretary of the Economics Study Centre, President of the Sufia Kamal Debating Club, and Vice President of Dhaka University Debating Society. These roles allowed her to showcase her excellent communication abilities and commitment to creating intellectual discourse platforms. She has been an enlisted singer for the national radio station Bangladesh Beter for the last 21 years. Her research interests lie in the fields of international trade, environmental economics, and development economics. She is dedicated to conducting meaningful research that contributes to a better understanding of these critical areas and addresses pressing economic challenges. With a strong academic foundation, teaching experience, leadership involvement, and research interests, Mrs. Urbee is poised to make significant contributions to the fields of economics and education, shaping the minds of future generations and driving positive change in the world.
