BIOGRAPHY

**Rafid Mostafiz** is an Assistant Professor (study leave) at the Institute of Information Technology, Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Bangladesh. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science at Iowa State University, USA. His academic and research interests include virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR), computer vision, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, medical image analysis, explainable AI. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Bangladesh, in 2015 and 2020, respectively. His master's thesis focused on speckle noise reduction in three-dimensional ultrasound images using optimum threshold parameter estimation. His research focuses on developing intelligent and reliable computational methods for medical imaging, disease detection, image enhancement, and object recognition. His published research includes studies on diabetic foot ulcer detection, Parkinson's disease diagnosis, COVID-19 detection, brain tumor identification, gastrointestinal polyp classification, and liver lesion detection. He has also contributed to research on explainable artificial intelligence, deep feature fusion, and deep learning-based computer vision. His current doctoral research at Iowa State University explores virtual reality interaction and three-dimensional object manipulation, particularly the design and evaluation of distance-aware technique for interacting with distant virtual objects. Before joining NSTU, he served as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor at Dhaka International University (DIU), Bangladesh. Alongside his research activities, he has experience in university-level teaching, academic mentoring, collaborative research, and technical reviewing for international journals. Through his teaching and research, he aims to contribute to the advancement of computer science, artificial intelligence, and innovative computing technologies, with particular emphasis on healthcare applications and human–computer interaction.
