Associate Professor
Umme Habiba
I am an Associate Professor at the Institute of Information Sciences, Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Bangladesh. I hold Bachelor’s, Master’s, and MPhil degrees in Information Science and Library Management from the University of Dhaka, where I earned 1st class 2nd position in both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Since joining NSTU in 2015, I have been actively engaged in teaching, academic administration, and research supervision. My research interests include digital literacy, health information behavior, scholarly publishing, information credibility, and the ethical use of AI in education. I have published in several international journals such as Health Expectations, Journal of Academic Ethics, and The Electronic Library. I regularly supervise student research and serve as a reviewer for leading academic journals. I am proficient in KOHA, MARC21, SPSS, and SmartPLS. I am committed to advancing LIS education and promoting responsible information practices in the digital age.

BIOGRAPHY
I am currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Institute of Information Sciences, Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Bangladesh. My academic journey began with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Dhaka, where I achieved 1st class 2nd position in both programs. Later, I was awarded an MPhil degree from the same institution in 2020. Since joining NSTU in 2015, I have been actively involved in teaching, research, and academic administration. Over the years, I have taught various courses in information organization, library management, information retrieval, and emerging technologies in the LIS field. I have also served as a Course Coordinator, Student Advisor, and Assistant Proctor. My research interests include digital literacy, information behavior, health information seeking, emotional intelligence, scholarly publishing, and the ethical use of AI in academia. I have authored several peer-reviewed articles in renowned journals such as Health Expectations, Journal of Academic Ethics, The Electronic Library, and Digital Library Perspectives. I also regularly supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research theses. In addition to my teaching and research responsibilities, I contribute as a reviewer for international journals under publishers like Elsevier and Springer Nature. I have practical experience with KOHA, MARC21, OPAC, SPSS, and SmartPLS. I am passionate about advancing the field of library and information science in Bangladesh and globally.
