Shamima Yesmin
Shamima Yesmin is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Information Sciences, Noakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh, and a PhD Fellow at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. She holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Information Science and Library Management from the University of Dhaka, where she achieved First Position in her class. Her research interests include Information Retrieval, Information Literacy, Digital Librarianship, Knowledge Management, and Community Informatics. She has received several awards from NSTU, including the Most Productive Researcher (2022, 2023) and the Highest Publishing Scholar Award (2024). Dedicated to advancing information access and education, she continues to contribute actively to research and teaching in Library and Information Science.

She joined the university in 2016 as a Lecturer and has been serving as an Assistant Professor since August 2018. Before joining academia, she worked as a Library Officer at East West University Library. She is currently a PhD Fellow at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. Her academic background includes a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Information Science and Library Management from the University of Dhaka; both earned with First Position in her class. Her academic excellence was recognized through the Dean’s Award of Merit (2012) and the Dean’s Meritorious Award of Honor (2014). Ms. Yesmin’s research interests encompass Information Retrieval, Information Literacy, Information Ethics, Digital Divide, Digital Librarianship, Knowledge Management, Community Informatics, and Data Mining. She has published and presented extensively in these areas and continues to contribute to knowledge management and library science research in Bangladesh. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses including Basics of Information Science and Library Management, Research Methodology, Information Ethics, Information Literacy, Bibliography and Citation, and Organization of Knowledge (Cataloguing Practical). Ms. Yesmin has received multiple Research Awards from NSTU for her scholarly contributions, including Most Productive Researcher (2022, 2023), Highest Publishing Scholar Award (2024), and Research Contribution Award (2024). Her dedication to education, research, and information access continues to inspire students and peers in the field of Library and Information Science.
