Lecturer
Md. Jaker Hossain
Md. Jaker Hossain is a Lecturer in the Department of Oceanography at Noakhali Science and Technology University and a Ph.D. candidate in Marine Chemistry at East China Normal University, Shanghai. His research focuses on aquatic biogeochemistry, microplastic pollution, and nutrient dynamics in the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna River System and adjacent coastal areas. Using interdisciplinary methods including isotope geochemistry and remote sensing, he investigates the effects of climate change and human activities on water quality and sediment transport. Md. Hossain has published in leading environmental journals and collaborates on international projects related to coastal ecosystem management.

BIOGRAPHY
Md. Jaker Hossain graduated with both B.Sc. and M.S. degrees in Marine Science from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Marine Chemistry at the State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research, East China Normal University, Shanghai, China. Since joining the Department of Oceanography at Noakhali Science and Technology University as a Lecturer, he has been actively involved in teaching and research. His expertise encompasses aquatic biogeochemistry, isotope geochemistry, microplastic pollution, and nutrient dynamics, with a particular focus on the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna (GBM) River System and its adjacent coastal ecosystems. Md. Hossain’s interdisciplinary research integrates field surveys, advanced laboratory techniques such as stable isotope analysis and remote sensing/GIS, and geochemical modeling to investigate the impacts of climate change and anthropogenic activities on water quality and sediment transport. He has published extensively in high-impact journals including Marine Pollution Bulletin, Journal of Environmental Management, Journal of Hydrology, and Journal of Hazardous Materials with notable first-author articles on microplastics and trace element fluxes. His work contributes significantly to the global understanding of pollutant dynamics in tropical riverine systems. Additionally, he has collaborated on international projects and possesses practical experience in coastal biogeochemistry, fisheries resource management, and aquaculture site modeling.
