Dr. Md. Sohel Parvez
With a master’s in marine science and a second master’s in oceanography after a bachelor’s in marine science, he aspires to work as an interdisciplinary oceanographer, blending different fields of study to explore the complexities of the marine environment. Throughout his previous research endeavors, he has focused on various aspects of oceanography, including fisheries, marine ecology, and environmental issues.

BIOGRAPHY
Mr. Md. Sohel Parvez is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Oceanography, Noakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh. Currently, he is working as a PhD research fellow in the Doctoral School of Biology and Environmental Sciences at the University of Debrecen, Hungary, under the prestigious Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship. He also received the Chinese govt. Scholarship for the PhD program at Xiamen University, China. Mr. Sohel achieved the highest CGPA in both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Marine Science from the University of Chittagong. He also has a second Master of Science degree in Oceanography from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Before starting his career at the university, Sohel also worked as a scientific officer at the then National Oceanographic Research Institute Project (Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institute), Cox's Bazar, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of Bangladesh. He also worked in some other organizations. Throughout his career, he worked broadly on fisheries, aquaculture, environment, coastal processes, etc. Mr. Sohel achieved the best trainee award at the UNESCO-IOC/WESTPAC training course on Climate Change, held at the ODC Center at the First Institute of Oceanography, Qingdao, China, in 2015. He was also awarded the National Science Information and Communication Technology Fellowship, 2010-2011, by the Ministry of Science, Information, and Communication Technology, Govt. of Bangladesh. Mr. Sohel was also awarded the Chittagong University Scholarship for excellence in the BSc. program.
