BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Mohammad Safiqul Islam is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), where he also serves as the Principal Investigator at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Pharmacogenomics. His research focuses on the genetics of autism spectrum disorder, schizophrenia, diabetes, cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, and breast cancer. Dr. Islam earned his PhD studying the genetic associations of lung cancer in the Bangladeshi population. He was awarded a prestigious two-year JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship and received the UGC Gold Medal in 2017 for his outstanding research in life sciences. He is an active member of several renowned professional bodies, including the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), European Association for Cancer Research (EACR), Asian Oncology Society (AOS), the Pharmacogene Variation (PharmVar) Consortium, and the Pharmacogenomics Research Network (PGRN). Dr. Islam has secured multiple research grants, participated in numerous national and international conferences, and has been awarded several travel grants. To date, he has published 175 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals, contributed five book chapters, and his work has received approximately 3,753 citations.
