BIOGRAPHY
Professor Dibyadyuti Sarkar, PhD is a widely respected Bangladeshi scholar, author, and public intellectual whose academic and public engagements span across the disciplines of history, political science, international relations, minority studies, philosophy, and comparative religion. He currently serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science at Noakhali Science and Technology University. He holds both MPhil and PhD degrees from the Institute of Bangladesh Studies (IBS), University of Rajshahi, and has completed a postdoctoral research fellowship under the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC). Professor Sarkar has authored over 50 academic articles—published in both Bengali and English—including several indexed in Scopus. His contributions also include more than ten book chapters and 23 encyclopedia articles. Additionally, he has presented over 20 research papers in national and international conferences. A prolific writer, his notable books include Rangpur Ganohatya (2017), Bangladeshi Hindu, Diasporic Hindu (2019), Bangabandhur Karajibon (2020), and Bangladesher Muktijuddho: Shoronarthi Samasya o Voo-Rajniti (2020). He is also the editor of the cross-border anthology Thakursang (2025). Beyond academia, Professor Sarkar is a familiar voice on television and radio, where he participates in programs addressing socio-political and cultural issues. Renowned for his dynamic oratory, he is an inspiring public speaker known for engaging audiences with clarity, depth, and passion. His popularity as a teacher transcends departmental boundaries, making him a favorite among students across disciplines. Professor Sarkar combines rigorous scholarship with accessible communication, making complex ideas relatable to both academic and general audiences. His work continues to contribute meaningfully to the national discourse on identity, memory, and the evolving political landscape of Bangladesh.
