Associate Professor

Dr. Kawsar Hossen

Dr. Kawsar Hossen working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Agriculture at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Bangladesh. He has successfully completed Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Master of Science in Agronomy from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Bangladesh. He completed his PhD in "Allelopathy for weed control" from the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Ehime University, Japan through MEXT Scholarship. He has led several government-funded projects and published over 65 research articles in reputed journals. Dr. Kawsar main research area is plant allelopathy with a particular focus on bioherbicides development to control weeds which help to reduce the use of synthetic herbicides as well as save the environment. Currently, he is doing research on crop production using different modern techniques and manage weeds by applying different methods as traditional, chemical, biological and combination of these methods and also working on crop nutrition.

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Kawsar Hossen is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Agriculture at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Bangladesh since 28 January, 2023; joined as a Lecturer at this department on 16th March 2014. Dr. Hossen research background includes a strong foundation in the agricultural or biological sciences through hunting of different project activities focusing on bioherbicides development, crop production, weed management, and crop nutrition. He has been participated in several national and international seminars, workshops, conference related to bioherbicide development, crop production and weed management. He awarded National Science, and Technology (NST) Fellowship during his Master degree and most prestigious MEXT Scholarship during pursuing his PhD degree. He completed several projects as a Principal Investigator like Special Allocation funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), and UGC research fund by NSTU Research Cell, NSTU. He successfully completed several trainings like data analysis, seed processing, seed preservation, water management, water conservation, curriculum development and teaching methodology. He completed his PhD in "Allelopathy for weed control" from the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Ehime University, Japan through MEXT Scholarship. He received highest publication award during his PhD and selected for staff mobility program through Erasmus+ KA171 scholarship by European Govt. at Sivas University of Science and Technology, Turkey. His main research area is plant allelopathy with a particular focus on bioherbicides development to control weeds which help to reduce the use of synthetic herbicides as well as save the environment.
