BIOGRAPHY

Lincon Chandra Shill is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Technology and Nutrition Science at Noakhali Science and Technology University. He completed both his BSc in Food Technology and Nutrition Science and MSc in Food Safety and Public Health from the same institution, achieving First Class First position in both degrees. His research focuses on molecular nutrition, immunometabolism, nutritional genomics, inflammation, and gene–environment interactions in chronic and infectious diseases. His work particularly investigates the relationship between genetic polymorphisms, metabolic pathways, and disease susceptibility in low-resource populations of Bangladesh. He has conducted extensive research on obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, renal complications, maternal and child nutrition, food safety, and environmental health. Mr. Shill has authored and co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed scientific publications in internationally recognized journals, including studies on FTO, TCF7L2, and KCNJ11 gene polymorphisms, nutritional epidemiology, public health nutrition, heavy metal exposure, breastfeeding practices, and food safety. His research integrates biomarker-based disease assessment, omics-related approaches, and population-based nutrition research to support evidence-based interventions and public health policy. Prior to joining academia as a faculty member, he worked as a Research Associate in the WorldFish ECOFISH-II Project and served as a Research Assistant at Noakhali Science and Technology University, where he contributed to molecular nutrition and population health research projects. He also possesses laboratory expertise in PCR, gel electrophoresis, spectrophotometry, microbiological techniques, and statistical analysis using SPSS and R. Alongside his academic career, he has actively participated in scientific seminars, nutrition awareness initiatives, youth nutrition movements, and leadership activities. His achievements include receiving the University Grants Commission Fellowship, National Science and Technology Fellowship, and Best Poster Presentation Award at the National Science Conference. His long-term academic goal is to pursue advanced doctoral training in molecular nutrition and immunology to explore immunometabolic and inflammatory mechanisms underlying chronic and infectious diseases through integrative omics and translational research approaches.

2018 - 2019

MSc

Food Technology and Nutrition Science
Noakhali Science and Technology University

Thesis: I obtained my Master of Science degree from Noakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh, achieving a CGPA of 3.94 and securing the first position in my cohort. My MSc research focused on the association between FTO (rs9939609) gene polymorphism and obesity-related traits, reflecting my interest in nutritional genomics and metabolic health. This phase of my academic journey strengthened my skills in advanced research design, statistical analysis, and scientific writing, leading to contributions to multiple peer-reviewed publications and shaping my interdisciplinary research focus.

2013 - 2017

BSc

Food Technology and Nutrition Science
Noakhali Science and Technology University

Thesis: I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree from Noakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh, with a CGPA of 3.88. My undergraduate training provided a strong interdisciplinary foundation in food science, human nutrition, biochemistry, and public health, supported by laboratory-based learning and community-level fieldwork. During this period, I developed a growing interest in food security, dietary behavior, and population health, while gaining practical experience in data collection, field research, and basic analytical methods. Master of Science (MSc) in Food Safety and Public Health

2011 - 2012

HSC

Science
Iqbal Memorial Degree College

Thesis: I was the top 1% student in my class and a consistent performer. I was not only involved in academic but also in sports, play, extra-curricular activities. I formed the debate club in my school and took part in various debating program where I achieved recognition.
