History

The Master of Laws (LL.M.) Program is designed to provide advanced legal education that deepens theoretical knowledge and enhances practical skills in diverse areas of law. The program integrates global perspectives with local legal realities to produce competent, ethical, and research-oriented legal professionals capable of addressing emerging legal challenges at both national and international levels. Students are exposed to specialized courses such as International Environmental Law, Gender Justice and Equality, International Trade and Investment Law, and International Criminal Law, along with opportunities for research, externship, and thesis work. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, legal research, policy analysis, and cross-cultural understanding, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for leadership roles in the Bar, Bench, academia, and international organizations. Through outcome-based learning, the LL.M. program aims to cultivate intellectual excellence, uphold the rule of law, and promote justice, equality, and sustainable development in Bangladesh and beyond.

To achieve this vision, the Department of Law aspires to be a great public law school. Toward this end, it pursues the following missions:
M1: To provide comprehensive legal education that fosters critical thinking, intellectual growth, and a humanistic understanding of law, preparing graduates to excel in the Bar, Bench, and academia.
M2: To cultivate skilled and ethical legal professionals capable of meeting the evolving demands of the legal profession and contributing effectively to society.
M3: To offer pragmatic and community-responsive legal education, instilling values of good governance, human rights, and justice.
M4: To integrate theory and practice across the curriculum through clinical training, innovative teaching, legal writing, and professional ethics, producing competent and upright law graduates.
