History

The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management was established under the Faculty of Business Studies in September 2017. As a part of the largest and fastest growing sector of the global economy there is a need for more highly qualified and trained personnel in tourism and hospitality industries. In recognition to this, Faculty of Business Administration, Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) was contemplating to set up a department to offer degrees in this field. The main objective of the department is to provide professional knowledge and skills in tourism & hospitality sector with a view of enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of administrative manpower in business organizations to face the emerging challenges in the competitive world of the new millennium.

Vision

To be a leading entity in the field of tourism and hospitality management for creation, preservation, dissemination of knowledge and skill for nation building and providing continuous technical support for the travel and tourism industries in Bangladesh.

Mission

1. To plan a progressive education training scheme and to impart, through training both practical and theoretical knowledge of every phase of Institutional Management.

2. To develop analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address challenges faced by a wide range of sectors like business, economics, tourism and hospitality industry.

3. To cultivate research and critical thinking skills to analyze industry data, conduct market research, and make informed decisions.

4. To develop leadership and management skills to effectively lead teams, manage resources, and make strategic decisions in tourism and hospitality organizations locally and globally.

5. To acquire knowledge of sustainable tourism practices and strategies to promote responsible and ethical tourism in order to minimize negative environmental and social impacts.
